With foundations established well over 100 years ago, the United Kingdom based parent company H&R Johnsons formed in 1901 bringing together in the late 1960s several Stoke-on-Trent businesses. These include the famous Minton Hollins and the 1893 established Richards Tiles.

JTA factories were setup in Victoria Australia in 1964 as part of a global expansion that eventually saw sister production facilities established in South Africa, India and Greece. Today the Johnson Tiles multinational comes under the ownership and building products focus of the UK based Norcros Group.

The Victoria based local production facilities are now solely geared for decorative product development and manufacture. While continuing screen printed border and frieze products, production is no longer limited to ceramic, and now includes mixed material meshing, cutting and glass products.
